Forward Deployed Operators
for Recruiting
A full-time recruiter for the hiring you need done. On day 1, they source, screen and schedule by hand. By day 90, AI scores the tests and keeps the hiring system current, and they own the shortlist.

Who does the job.
We have recruited for ten years. Every one of our 900+ hires inside client teams came through our own hiring, and so did the people in these interviews. A Forward Deployed Operator for recruiting runs the same process inside your team.

From day 1 to day 90.
A Forward Deployed Operator joins your hiring team, does the work, maps it, then runs the AI we build around it.

- Day 1
Give us the role.
Your Forward Deployed Operator joins full-time, inside your hiring system, your job posts and your interview loop, and reports to your hiring lead. They source, screen and schedule by hand.
- Day 30
The job is mapped. We build the AI.
The operator writes down every step as they do it: where candidates come from, how a test is scored, what moves a candidate to the next stage. We build the AI from that list, at no cost to you. By day 60, the AI scores the tests and updates the hiring system, and the operator checks every result.
What the role covers.
Six parts of a recruiting job. A Forward Deployed Operator takes them on from day 1; AI takes over the routine by day 90.

01.
Sourcing and job posts
Job posts written and published where your candidates look, and outreach to people who fit the role.
02.
Screening and skills tests
CVs read, skills tests set and scored, first calls held. Your hiring managers meet only people who can do the job. This is the part AI takes over first.
03.
Keeping the hiring system current
Every candidate in the right stage, with the scores, notes and feedback attached, and a weekly report on where each role stands.
04.
Candidate communication
Replies, updates and decisions sent on time and in a warm voice, so every candidate knows where they stand.
05.
Shortlists and interviews
Shortlists built with your hiring managers, interviews booked, and feedback collected after each one.
06.
Offers and the hand-off to onboarding
Offers prepared for your sign-off, contracts sent, and the new hire handed to the team that onboards them.
What Hektor (AI agent) does.
We ran it on HKR’s own hiring first. Hektor is our recruiting agent, and these are four chores a recruiter at HKR no longer does. A recruiter still decides who is hired.

The AI workflow blueprints.
Hektor does these four recruiting chores at HKR today. Open a card to see what Hektor does and what a person decides.
Scoring skills tests
Night shift: 3 tests scored, each within 4 minutes.
- 11:38 PM · Greg Hirsch · 81% · Screened
- 2:06 AM · Jess Jordan · 68% · Screened
- 5:51 AM · Connor Roy · 44% · below the pass mark
Connor’s reason in Lever: English Level. He can ask a recruiter to review his test. Each candidate has the scores, the language level and the writing notes.
Nobody at HKR scores applicant tests by hand. Minutes after a test arrives, at night and at weekends too, the grammar is marked against a fixed key and AI scores the writing against a rubric. The test has a fixed pass mark. A candidate below it gets the reason and can ask a recruiter to review the test, and a recruiter decides who is hired.
Every five minutes, day and night, the AI looks for new tests. The grammar, vocabulary and reading answers are marked against a fixed answer key. AI scores the two writing tasks against a rubric, and each test gets a language level. A candidate passes only when both parts clear the bar. About four tests in ten arrive outside weekday office hours, and they are scored just as fast.
The scores go into the hiring system as a note on the candidate. A candidate who clears the pass mark moves to the next stage. A candidate below it gets the reason and can ask a recruiter to review the test. The recruiter talks to the candidates who move on and decides who is hired.
Checking tests for AI-written answers
Held for you: Kerry Castellabate’s test, sent in at 3:12 PM.
- Grammar, vocabulary, reading: 19/25
- Writing: 18/20
- The writing shows signs of AI-written answers.
No stage move, no archive. Your call.
Nobody at HKR reads every test for signs of AI-written answers. The AI holds back each test that shows those signs, with no stage move and no archive, and sends it to a recruiter. The recruiter decides what happens to that candidate.
While it scores a test, the AI also looks for signs that the answers were written by AI. A test that shows them is held: the candidate is not moved on and not archived, and the note in the hiring system says the test waits for a person.
The recruiter gets the held test with its scores, reads it and decides what happens to the candidate. Nothing about that candidate changes until then.
Checking the hiring tools
⚠️ Hiring tools check: 1 issue
❌ Interview calendar link: the booking page does not open.
OK: test sheet, Lever, last night’s scoring, update queue
Tests are still scored. @Casian, the booking link needs you.
Nobody at HKR opens the test sheet, the hiring system and the interview calendar each morning to see that they work. At 9:00, the AI tests all three and tells the recruiter when one is broken. A person still decides how to fix it.
Every day at 9:00, the AI opens the test sheet, the hiring system and the link candidates use to book an interview, and checks that each one answers. It also checks that the night’s tests were scored and that no update to the hiring system is still waiting.
When everything works, it stays quiet. When a tool is broken, the recruiter gets one message that names the tool and what failed. A person decides how to fix it.
Looking up a candidate
@Hektor where are we with Greg Hirsch?
Greg Hirsch, Customer Support Associate: offer sent, not signed yet.
- Test: 81% · C1 · passed on 14 Oct
- Interviews: Casian on 16 Oct, Gerri at Waystar RoyCo on 20 Oct
- Feedback: 2 of 2 say hire
- Offer: sent 21 Oct, no reply yet
Next move is yours.
Nobody at HKR searches the hiring system to answer a question about one candidate. A recruiter asks in chat and gets the test, the feedback, the interviewers and the offer status in one reply. The recruiter still decides the next step.
A recruiter asks about a candidate in Slack, by name, in plain words. The AI reads the candidate’s record in the hiring system and replies in the same thread: the test result, the interview feedback, who interviewed the candidate and where the offer stands.
A lookup only reads the record. The recruiter decides the next step.
“I used to score every skills test by hand, and tests arrive at night and at weekends too. Hektor now scores each one within minutes and updates Lever. I spend more of my day talking to candidates.”
